It's definitely been "Golden Screwdrivered,"
but it's such a pretty thing!

The transformer is in the place of a dynamotor.
Whomever did it crushed the side of the can
capacitor to make room. The rectifier tube
is crudely mounted on stand-offs. That iron
choke is sitting right up against the Antenna
Loading coil at what would be a High RF Voltage
point... ZAP! One of the capacitors used
is dated 1962- late for this rig.

There's some sort of "A-Battery" like connector
soldered to a jack on the front panel and just
left dangling inside.

The big mystery to me is that knob above the
meter, which initially looked suspect.
However, there are a handful of images on the
web with at least three different sets
and all of them show that knob.
If you look behind the panel (there are a
couple of barely-usable views), the thing should
be above the meter and wedged between the panel
and the keying relay. But I don't see anything
on the back of the panel above the meter. There's
no room to work without removing the keying relay,
and there's still Glyptol on some of the solder
points. Weird.

If I were 45 instead of sketchy health at 65,
I'm make that a project. Alas, the boney old
man with the hour glass advises against ;-)
