If perchance Dave's post tantalizes some reader into thinking about playing with such set....
I do have a TRC-109 Coast Guard radio, good condition visually, has handset but handset cord is 
rubber covered and shot. ( I do have a later handset from some FM vehicle radio, with cloth 
covered cord, which can yield a new cord. Thanks, Dave, I hadn't even thought about that. )
This is not some deal I can do real soon, as sorry to admit, I don't know where I stashed the radio.
I think the manual is available. I think I want $50. 
I do have some 3 legged quartzes, but again....where did I put them?
If I was going to keep it, I think I would decrease the tuning range of the receiver variable.
