No, the article is saying WWI German Army wireless equipment was taken home by demobilized troops, then
put to use by radical political groups for communications inside Berlin.
I don't know whether such equipment was actually mandated to be destroyed. But you can maybe imagine it
would be difficult to lug home a big wireless set. There were no small military wireless sets, except maybe for
some aircraft equipment. How do you power it up at home, anyway? In the city?
The rest of the article is actually great, covering that one special tube.
