Looks like a basic 6 tube superhet with gear-driven tuning and a tone 
filter.   There's a row of (lamps?) marked L1-L8 whose function I 
haven't been able to figure out from the schematic (assuming it is 
correct as the seller says).  Anyone know more about this?

I'm afraid the seller is destined to be disappointed...
