I recently got email from Harrison N1FAM who activates the USS Nautilus
for Museum Ships Weekend. His team is interested in operating the
same model equipment as Nautilus carried on her August 1958 Polar crossing.
The equipment on display in Nautilus today is too new to have been on board
then, but he's not been able to find any info on what she had aboard in
1958. Does anyone have any info that would help? She was completed in April
1955.
Here are my guesses just based on the time frame -
SSB
probably too early for the Collins AN/URC-32 SSB transceiver but maybe
she got upgraded to one of the very first ones.
LF/VLF
AN/SRR-11 LF/VLF receiver
HF
AN/SRR-13 HF receiver (maybe R-390A ?)
AN/SRT-14 AM/CW/FSK transmitter (or TBL?)
TCS HF low power AM/CW transmitter-receiver?
UHF
TED + URR-13 - UHF transmitter-receiver
RATT
AN/SGC-1 RTTY converter for UHF
AN/URA-8 RTTY converter for HF
TT-47 or TT-69 Teletype
