Dave, I’m not an RS-6 guru, but years ago I was in the audio repair business. Tape decks and turntables used idler wheels to go between the drive motor spindle and either pinch the tape to drive, or drive a turntable platter. Very common repair item back then. You can google tape deck idler wheels or phonograph parts and see if you can find a suitable replacement. One possible source is:

Or for a temporary fix you might go to an auto store and get a can of spray belt dressing. Spray some into a small cup and use a Q-tip to dab on the idler you’re finding the slippage with. Might work, might not.

Used to be there were many companies with large catalogs of this stuff. No more.

Subject: [Milsurplus] Calling RS-6 Gurus.

Question for the RS-6 experts:
The vernier-tuning wheel in this RR-6
receiver slips.
The rubber wheel between the big tuning
dial and the little cam that is turned by the
vernier tuning wheel is worn and shrunken.
Tensioning the pressure spring was ineffective.
Cleaning it with Natpha to remove oils or
contaminants improved it some, but it
still slips.

Has anyone solved this issue?
