"Cancel Culture" is the old Soviet system of denouncments with a new name.  Denouncment is automatic guilt.  In fact, if the Cheka was short on its arrest quota, you could be arrested and disappeared for failing to denounce someone, even your wife or children.Alexander Solzhenitsyn in "Gulag Archipelago" wrote that the first and silliest question asked by the person being arrested at 3 a.m., whisked away and never seen again, was: "What for??"The Russian people lived through that 70 years of Terror, and they are smart enough to teach the Gulag Archipelago and its warnings to their children in grade school. Us, not so much.
