The point is not how these sounded qualitatively compared to other systems.
Apparently it worked well enough for Germany 1937 - 1945 to be retained,
even before war exigencies ruled out a search for something improved. This
means in all environments. One of the posts way back claimed throat mics
did not work. That is just silly. I don't speak Norwegian, but I'm sure I could
understand German or English from the microphone Mr. Fykse used. Also
consider that there would more often a limited number of phrases used, and
phonetics and Q codes. Yes, Q codes and other codes in ground radio use.
