Just acquired a nice, working BC-375 and dyno. I plan to run 80m. The question is about antenna. I know these were originally designed for a wire antenna (end fed, trailing wire). I was thinking of doing the same with a ¼ wave wire on 80m heading out to a tree and then a ground system. I understand the tuning section is very wide range which is good. I thought I might use knife switches to disconnect the antenna and also to connect to a light bulb as a dummy load. The question here is whether that is worth it, or should I just adapt to a 50 ohm coax ? And do I just make a PL-259 pigtail and connect the center  to the HV and shield to GND on the transmitter? Or am I better off putting an RF cap between the HV and the coax for better matching? Any opinions?
 
  
 
I do think it would look cool to have some single wire feeder in the shack heading out. Also the receiver I will use is a BC-342 which can also be fed with a single wire from the transmitter for T/R operation.
