[Milsurplus] TBX on Guam

The TBX and TBY are both pretty "hot". Electric Radio had an article on them some years back that discussed this hazard and how to deal with it.
When I radiac'd an -8 years back, I was very surprised how hot. I read that TBX-6 are not radioactive. I also read that the -6 was made for the USCG,
so that would figure, a non frontlines combat use.
BTW, I was also astonished some years back when most members here responded to not mention at all in my Ebay listings the radium paint concern.
Let the buyer beware, apparently. I do mention it but I don't get worked up over it. BTW, also, I have read about some cases where a clear overspray
after a few years started to discolor and look like hell, so you might want to remember this email and never do that. TBX are a lot of fun to play with.
The TBX up to -7 have a single tube transmitter even on VFO, which is kind of fun too.
Also BTW, do I really have the only rain shield ( visor ) in existence? How can that be, where'd they all go?

Hello,
The TBX is a neat radio. I've read about them. I'd love to get one someday and restore it. But is it true that on some of them, all the front panel markings were painted with radium paint? Is that dangerous?

Mike.
