Ah yes, solved. I expanded the manual photo so it's semi-legible. This is the only front panel photo in the BC-224-L BC-348-S
manual. So I was wrong that the -S means AC converted.
I have a -348-R with an AC supply that looks factory, it absolutely is above home shop quality. But I have no idea when that
was done.
