The BC-348-S is an RCA BC-348-C that Belmont modified to add the 200 to 500 kHz band that C models and earlier lack and that E models and later have. The S models have the original C model tag plus a new S model tag.

You mean both are DC powered. Of course the BC-224-L is 12 vdc. There is no nomenclature that applies to any AC-powered BC-224-* or BC-348-*.

IIRC, there were about 20 BC-348-* made (by Belmont, RCA, Stromberg-Carlson, or Wells-Gardner) for each BC-224-* made (by Belmont or RCA). For the BC-348-* there were many more orders to twice the number of makers, each instance of which usually resulted in a letter increment in the BC-348-* nomenclature.

FWIW there is no BC-224-* model that is equivalent to the simplified BC-348-J, -N, -Q models. Those were all made by Wells-Gardner, which made no BC-224-* models.
