[Milsurplus] RS-6: No More Ear Busters

If you've ever tried to use the little earphone
(or any earphone) with the RS-6 "B-52 Crew/
CIA" radio set on CW, you've probably yanked
the earphone off after the first "DIT."
Like the TCS, the clicks in the headphones
when releasing the key will bust your eardrums.

As with the TCS, this is easy to fix.  Get two
1-watt 5V Zener diodes like 1N4734A.
hook them parallel, facing in opposite
directions, like this jury-rig:

Don't let them short to the chassis.
Connect them across the headphone contacts.
Without the diodes= Ear busters:

With the diodes, you can wear the little earphone
during CW with comfort:

Note:   You can't use this trick if you have a
transmitter modulation transformer with a
side-tone winding, like the SCR-274N, unless
you disconnect the sidetone winding.  The
clipping action will be reflected into the
modulation winding and clip your mod.
I rarely use sidetone in a rig.
