This may be of interest to an owner of the WWII receiver SLR-12 by Scott.
This was a ship's entertainment radio, broadcast band and shortwave, with special provisions to limit oscillator radiation, to prevent interference to other radios on the ship. Not to prevent U-boats from detecting the ship location, and old and seemingly immortal myth! SLR = Scott Low Radiation.
Liberty ship Moses G. Farmer, hull 2731, was commissioned January 1944. The Scott radio was apparently installed in March. The ship had not a long war career and was eventually scrapped in 1962. I was not able to find more details on the ship. Wikipedia's list of Liberty ships misspells the ship name and I have submitted a correction. If you own an SLR-12, you may be able to edit this photo to remove this particular ship name and keep the form with your radio for possible display. Unfortunately the selectivity numbers do not have any real-world details that would help us.
