I quite by accident stumbled onto this old film on Facebook. ( Yes, even FB can be good for something, altho it seems otherwise. ) "Nordeich Radio", the greatest German marine radio station. What may interest ( some here ) is the use here in 1958 of some German WWII Wehrmacht receivers. The K.W.E.a. and E52 are seen. One fishing boat has a marine direction finder of same vintage, I think it's something like "TKLP" or the equivalent of the HE-1. Some other receivers both German and maybe British, that I can't identify. Other scenes of interest: pneumatic tracks to carry telegrams; cutting up message strips to paste on telegram; changing coax "pipe" for different band or antenna; teletype machines; 12 kV voltmeter on 10 kW Nordeich transmitter; man smoking while operating E52 ( thereby coating radio with yellow gunk, as well as his lungs); message carousels with messages identified by ship call. I found this little
11 minute film v e r y interesting. Die Sprache ist nur Deutsch, but it's mostly not hurried and understandable German, and even without the language, you get the gist of it. This film is available directly on Youtube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQocydNEvvY
One fishing vessel is mentioned by name, "Babylona DDZH". I don't know if that's made up for the film or not. My ITU Lists are all packed away for present.
