[Milsurplus] Lighthouse radio beacons of the past

As Dave stated, NDB's are indeed fading. Often, when a beacon fails due to
technical reasons, a NOTAM is issued to the effect that it is being
decommissioned......I guess it is easier to simplify hit the "OFF" switch
than go to the time and effort to repair it when it sees so little use,
especially now that most flyers have switched to GPS based navigation. That
may or may not be shortsighted, the coming years may answer that question.
Occasionally, a new one gets fired up; after being off the air for many
years the beacon on remote Adak Island (Alaska) returned in mid 2019.

Dave mentioned there were very few NDB's left in Northeast Texas, statewide
there are only 37 that are currently active.

Regards to all.
