In the 1970's, I bought an ARC1 from the surplus yard across from NAS JAX in Jacksonville, FLA. I had worked on a lot of the latest Navy comm gear, plus a whole lot of ARC 27's, and while the ARC1 was late 40's gear, it was very straightforward to sort it out and get it going without a schematic. On one of the front handles was a tag telling where it came from and the channel numbers and service assigned to the frequencies, and all the crystals were still in place. It actually came from down the road, assigned at one time to a squadron based at Cecil Field NAS. When I got it going and put it on the air, was delighted to hear just about all the freqs were still assigned per the tag as the FAA ATC filled the speaker with flight directions. While my set up back then was kluge, with wires running everywhere, and I no longer have that unit, I did pick up another one complete with rack and control box a few years ago, and will get around to getting it back running one of these days.
