[Milsurplus] MS Ant sections

Let's say i had a bunch of MS-nnn mast sections. I also have a few nice GRC-9. I am only going to keep these GRC-9 in the "home hamshack configuration" but i thought, as long a i have a bunch of these MS and the antenna base, maybe i should keep just enuff sections for one unguyed length display. How many sections will self support on the GRC-9 ?
Also, the No.19 Set antenna sections, are these without the copper exposed threaded section at base of each antenna section ? I ask because i found some stray unid sections.
