Although it's like months off not a lot of other shows going on so starting to think of what I can and cannot do this fall once the season starts back up.
Number one on the schedule is the Gilbert Red Ball MVPA show that also incorporates the MRCA show on September 24th and 25th.
We are about four months out on that show but I am planning on being there at least the day before and for the entire event. The 24th is a Friday but I plan on being there with the mutt and taking part in the M&S Net at noon that Thursday. Look forward to another year of showing off radios, buying and selling and as always, the best field activities of any radio event.
This is where it gets complicated beyond Gilbert. The weekend after Gilbert, October 2nd and 3rd is the Sussex NJ MVPA Show. In all these years of doing shows and events I have never been to that show. I have been to a Ham fest or two at the same venue but not the Military Show, know that several on the list make it a regular event and would be interested in if you have a dedicated section and do any activities at that show?
And last on the list is the Aberdeen MVPA Show on October 7th, 8th and 9th. The Aberdeen show has always been the week or two just before the Dayton Hamvention in late April or May. It was canceled last year and this year they rescheduled it to October because of Covid.
The last several years have dragged the mutt out to the event at Ripkin Stadium in Aberdeen and they have been great host providing me and the mutt plenty of space to set up and operate. The issue this year will be that they have relocated to Hagerstown Maryland west of Baltimore, think they will be located at the airport complex.
I will be doing the Gilbert PA show regardless, but cannot decide if I should do the Sussex NJ show the weekend after Gilbert or wait and do the relocated Aberdeen show out in Hagerstown Maryland?
The Aberdeen, now Hagerstown people have been good to me in the past but have noticed the show has been shrinking over the last five years and do not know if the change of venue along with change of date will be an issue. That along with having no knowledge of the operations up at Sussex have to wonder If I can get he same kind of deal where they will accommodate the setting up of antennas and running generators and the like. Something about North Jersey and NY Ham Fest that I have been at in the past its like there is not a lot of accommodations, and don't intend to drag the mutt, trailer and all that sort of stuff miles without being able to set up and operate or being subject to restrictions.
So, if anyone has in the past showed at Sussex and can let me know what goes on up there and what the people are like that may be very helpful.
Going to also assume that I will be set up for the annual Able Archer 83 event in November with planning to run not only HF/USB, VHF and teletype from that event.
