I think many on the west coast divert hobby money into housing expenses...

Subject: [Milsurplus] re-enactors radio pt2
Did not do anything this year because of the Covid thing but I have said it before and will stand by the statement that the Dayton or now Xenia Hamvention 3885 WW2 pack radio net on Saturdays at the Hamvention always boast the largest collection of working BC-611 radios in the world, maybe there is someone with more BC-611 then the dozen or more that are in operation at that time but that’s always the one place you can see and net with BC-611, pogo stick and all types of military portable AM sets.
In order for this to happen you are dealing with a large group of skilled Ham operators who spend thousands of hours to restore and keep them functional, don’t think you would have the level of skill sets required in the re-enactor community. Not that we are that much smarter just that are goals and skill sets are different from most of the living history types I know.
The military Vehicle Collector community would be another place where you see a lot going on with communications but in some ways it the same deal. I am only slightly involved in their world and know when at their shows people always comment on the poor quality of my restoration work on the chassis and paint jobs but my radios are always good.
I can only encourage anyone in the Military Radio Hobby to get out and see what’s going on in both Military Vehicle and the re-enactor community. It broadens your horizon and gives you something else to do besides being in your basement all the time.
Speaking of that I will be mixing Military radio and Vehicles together this weekend at Fort Miles in Delaware and hope to work some of you for the Military Radio Field Exercise on Saturday.
