If you want exact, and original, you'll need to scrap something, if you
want matching, again, ebay for quick and easy. Some people don't like
ebay for some reason, so try another massive global seller consolidating
website.
~100,000 hits for black oxide screws on ebay alone, and several for:
screw black oxide slotted pan... Of the sellers that offer those, if
one doesn't have what you need listed, ask, most can get anything, as
they themselves have resources.
My Dad used to do various coatings on various metals. One thing he
needed a LOT of was a brass screw of a certain type, and coating. He
could have done it himself, in small batches per project, but he would
just call me, and have them order them for him in 20# packages. 20#,
$19.95 delivered. For #8x3/8 screws, that's a LOT. Or, the blackening
chemical he needed to do it himself, about $15 per half pint, which was
good for only a handful of screws before weakening.
I've been buying black oxide finish lath screws lately. 1/2", 3/4", and
1". The treatment is very rough, like sandpaper, so they are not only
"stealth", in appearance, being ultra-flat black, they have a tendency
to bind, and hold. MUCH better than the galvanized lath screws.
