One question is, because the merchant, who is in the UK, says these new headphones are 10K, would a person notice much difference when using them for a crystal radio?

Set of approach plates, maybe? :-) I'll try to think if I need anything which would be the same catagories you listed. High Z headphones, ~4K ohms? I found these new, but it would be fun to have the real deal. Could be minus the plug.
