[Milsurplus] BC-221 parts request

The 1 MC crystal in the BC-221's is in a DC-9 holder and the Navy Type
Number of the one in the LM's is -40023(*) where (*) is <blank>, A or B.
AFAIK, they would be interchangeable. Both are in an evacuated metal octal
tube can.

Word of warning about mailing anything to a foreign address. There are a
lot of countries that have notified USPS that they have shut down their
postal systems for the duration. So check at USPS.com before mailing
anything. And expect it to take at least twice as long as usual. I did
recently get a small package through to another ham in Italy but it took a
while. And I'm still waiting after more than a month to find out whether
some BC-1000 latches are going to eventually get through to the buyer in
Norway or be returned to me.

Subject: [Milsurplus] BC-221 parts request

There is a fellow in Italy who posts on the " regenrx " , regenerative
receivers group.
He has a BC-221 with book, but without tubes or crystal.
He would like to restore it to operation, and seeks those parts.
He has not posted here yet, so for privacy I withhold his email address, but
I will give it and/or forward any reply.
If necessary I will remail items to him in Italy; otherwise I prefer to stay
out of the deal.

Now also I ask, how different are the crystal holders ( packages ) of the LM
and BC-221 ?
I do have an LM junker that I could contribute the crystal from, if that
would work.
I told him that at hamfests here I can get the tubes for $3 each new,
but....there will be no hamfests for rest of
year, I'm sure.

This reminds me. I seem to recall I sold at a hamfest a year or so ago, a
bad looking badly stored BC-221 for
$5 or $7.
