Gents:
I have a pair of -611s that I intend to bring to various demos such as
MRCA, RCA (the Club, not the Company), Ham club meetings, etc. My latest
acquisition is a 1945 Galvin model F and it seems to work just fine. The
other is made by Nippon Electric in 1953 but its PTT switch operates very
sluggishly. That is, it requires quite a bit of force to get it to move
from RX to TX. I removed this -611's PTT switch assembly and cleaned it
quite a bit with dry polishing. It's still tough to operate.
Have you any suggestions on how I might be able to free up the movement
of this switch? I don't want to exhibit it in front of an audience when
they won't be able to operate it easily. Would contact cleaner on the 14
switch poles be advisable?
Thanks for any guidance you can provide.
