Short answer is Yes. As to dates, best that I can do is guess.
The only Set, Complete, Radio that I can prove was done with the revision
letters in between the "SCR" and the model number is SCR-xx-183. And the
only Basic Component is BC-AA-191. From what I have dated paper on, I am
inclined to conclude that the process of assigning the number may have
varied somewhat. Or that the numbers got assigned by more than one person
and they didn't agree. But anyway, I have a manual on SCR-AC-183 dated in
1934. So at a guess, SCR-AA-183 was assigned maybe in 1932. And I have
paper both earlier and later where the nomenclature is SCR-nnn or SCR-nnn-A.
So it should be easy to remember those two numbers alone. And incidentally
after BC-AA-191 comes BC-191-A. So someone must have felt strongly enough
about it to change it. But I don't have anything from which to say when the
-AA- was assigned.
Also, at some point, someone must have decided that it made things easier if
the first version was -A instead of <blank> because after about 1939 there
are relatively few or maybe no SCR's or BC's that do not end in -A or
higher. As we know, this practice ended with the advent of the AN system.

Subject: SCR question
So I surmise this nomenclature designation, like
SCR-**-number-number-number, later was unified into this style
representation: SCR-number-number-number-* ( *= letter ) .
Is that right ? When did that change appear ?
I hope this message is not too suspicious.
