The writer obviously was told this and misheard. What he referred to was the V-100, something like the BC-654 but used 807 RF PA.
These V-100 were one source of parts for the home - brew OSS radio I talked about. BC-654 size was apparently ill - suited for guerilla
type use. The V-100 was built by Pilot Radio Company in the U.S. for Lend - Lease and apparently not a single one remains here.
There is one example in that large Russian online radio museum.
Pilot also built the AN/TRC-10.
What is "SI" ?

To answer Al Klase's question, the OSS radio was one chassis, not separates, and in a wood box looking like an "orange crate" from years
past. It was on one chassis, not separates. Photos are extremely rare and not very clear.

>currently trolling through more of the CIA files I found this reference in an OSS file from September 1944:

"Our SI field staffs along the Yangtze have struggled to maintain themselves, and radio contact has been kept up by B-100 sets for a distance of 250 miles"

Obviously supplied to the OSS. Is anyone familiar with this set?
