Dave, there's a failure mode in the filter and that's that the first filter input capacitor is close to a resistor that gets hot.
The caps then tend to spill their guts.
I planned to remove this cap and go to choke-input filter. However this drops the receiver B+ so the regulator tubes no
longer light. Requires adjusting receiver dropping resistor. I have not done this yet, put aside RS-6 projects.
I just fetched a set from storage and though, hmmm, this would be a pretty fun set to use. Most folks don't have the
original earpiece thing anyway so use what you will. Looking at the set again after many years, I also noticed that you
probably want to use an antenna tuner to drop some harmonic power.
