Xograph
If you are a collector of old keys/bugs, this might be of interest.
I have what appears to be a century old Vibroplex type key called the
Xograph, S/N 516, manufactured by the Rolph H. Brown Company in Toronto
Canada around 1918-20. The key appears to be one of the last manufactured as
only around 500 were ever made. It has a nickeled base and come in a wooden
carrying case.
The damper end seems to have been modified to allow a bar with the name F.
A. Wilcox stamped on it to be installed. The same name is stamped on the
wedge connector. F. A. Wilcox was a telegrapher (Chief Telegrapher?) with
Canadian National Telecommunications in the early 1900's and I believe this
might have been his personal key.
Wilcox later went on to manufacturer keys of his own after Rolph H. Brown's
death in 1924.
Pictures are available.
Currently being offered for sale at $800 Cdn but I will consider offers.
