I was looking at a Navy schools booklet on the AN/ARC-27 schematics. One page, the spectrum generator, has next to tuning circuits

for V504, V505 6J4 tubes, this written note:  "Hubbard tank with straight bar inductor".

What is this?

I recall now that when I briefly lived in Omaha, I went over to an electronics store in Council Bluffs, Iowa. This was 1995. It had a lot

of 'classic ham gear', at what I thought were too high prices, because this was still when 'classic ham gear' wasn't nearly as much

regarded as collectibles; it was more like bargains you picked up at hamfests.  The owner told me he had a lot of ARC-27s parked

somewhere else. I expect as there's about zero demand for those, they all went the way of the scrap bin.

thanks-
