That is very interesting! I wonder if there was some sort of documentation or project on the 
MARS circuit which detailed this?

If there was, and if I could find some sort of documentation on it, this would help me get mine 
back in operation.

The HV power supply contains a pair of or 4ea 866A MV rectifiers. The transformers are 
large too.

The smaller, low-voltage power supply uses solid-state top-hat rectifiers.
