[Milsurplus] [MMRCG] "Radio Prepares for War"

I have an unrestored HRO-60 around here and I see National finally wised up and realized people like direct reading dials; not having
to use a look - up table to ( approximately ! ) determine the frequency. I also do not like the concept of having a collection of coils
that takes up about as much space as the receiver itself.
If you're an AM station listener, the Super Pro true variable selectivity is a wonder. I think those continuously variable coupling IFs
are an absolutely topnotch innovation.
Remember also that the HROs supplied to the militaries used the gen cov coils, not bandspread coils. I think the kcs/ dial revolution
was good, but not wonderful. And the HRO drift above about 20 MHz is nothing to brag about either.
Yes part of this is purely subjective for me. For me, a real radio has to have an illuminated dial. Zero to N numbered dials are for
homebrew. ( I have to make an exception for Forest Service radios, Japanese radios, and Boy Scout radios. )

I don't recall what Brit receiver was less well regarded than the HRO. I have the book and next time I find it, maybe I'll cite this.
But it probably had a one - knob tuning general coverage, something like the NC-100, RAO.
