Hi Dave -
Certainly a DC relay will buzz. Remember an AC waveform goes through zero a
couple of times during each cycle. Also if the relay is magnetized after a
while, alternate cycles could repel the relay pole piece. The answer is use
an AC relay. 73 - Mike

Subject: [Milsurplus] AC Relay Turns "Buzzer"
Anyone have any idea why a WWII-era relay, designed to operate from 115 VAC,
would instead act like a "buzzer-" a DC relay with AC applied?
Can anything be done to repair it?
