The museum I volunteer at has a late/post-war automatic morse keyboard machine. Variable speeds & variable tone outputs. Appears the main intended use was a training device but it never caught on. The inventor was a Colo Springs resident & his grandson donated one of two prototype devices & some related documents. I can take & send some pics later if anyone's interested.

Probably the only one left in existence. I have tried it and it works just fine. It does need a motor to turn the pulley. Here are a few photos of it. 73 – Mike http://www.eozinc.com/nt/ Mike B. Sorry- I wasn't clear - I know about McElroy, Boehme, and other ink code recorders - What I am looking for is something that READS an inked tape and types characters on a typewriter or teletype. Machine transcription as opposed to manual transcription by a personr reading "slip" (inked tape). The earliest automatic Morse-to-Baudot machine I know about was the AN/UGA-1 of 1960.http://www.navy-radio.com/morse/uga3.pdf
