Ray, '43 was the transition year to lower quality metal alloy in ground radios. Since you didn't comment that this E.b. has an insane weight for its size, I surmise that
it was not produced with the new low grade alloy. Also that X frame in the back that supports the turret, looks in very good condition, metal looks very good, another
indication that its not.
Max Kaplan of WA state showed me a cute tube sub holder he had made. He used tube bases, apparently from the RV2P tube, and built onto it a 7 pin U.S. standard
tube socket. So instead of the RV2P tubes, you put 1T4 or 1L4 in this adapter and it plugged right in. Yes, you have to use all one tube type, the RV2P tube or 1T4,
no mixing, due to different fil voltage.
Did you know this: the battery box can bring prices higher than the receiver?
