Here's a 'P.A.R.' ( " Pan American Radio " ) made in Seattle in the 1950s, for the very few people interested in such.
( But there ARE a few. )
Originally the listing had some nonsense about Marconi and Pan American Airways, but I sent him some info.
It is a 5 channel receiver. Channels 1,2, 3 were set up for common boat freqs. KOW, the PNB ship-shore telephone
station, sent on 2522 and I forget what freq the ship sent on. So to hear both sides you needed to listen to 2 different
freqs. I think this set was intended to have channel 5 set up to receive two different freqs, such as KOW. But the
crystals have been moved around and some have been robbed out. The construction, typical of PAR, uses many war -
surplus parts. For example, the handles and some knobs and the channels chart frame are from the tuning units for
the USAAF WWII aircraft transmitter BC-375.
The BIN price is only $350, so hurry ! Well, wait; no: Actually, that's an insane and ignorant price.
I like PAR, but this item is pretty useless. I am sure the 'tuning knob' is only for peaking up the RF on different channels.
I would probably pay up to, a whole $35 for it....maybe.
Probably the photos will suffice for me.
