[Milsurplus] GRC-9 Rec puzzlers

The GRC-9 maintains B voltage on the 2 receiver audio tubes at all times.
I wonder why this is. The sideone does not go thru any amplification.
Is this to somehow maintain a more constant load on the voltage regulator tube?
My guesstimate of B+ draw is about 10 mA for audio power tube and about 7 mA
for rest. I am thinking how to combine these 2 for the LED lighting.

Conventional thinking would also maintain constant B+ on the converter tube, for
maximum freq stability under rec and trans changeback.

I also note that the RF amp uses lower voltage than tube manuals give as typical,
45 versus 75 volts. Perhaps if and when I go further with the GRC-9 I will try
jumpering the drop and see if that's worth it.

I also wonder if running the rec always at +105 volts and putting a couple zeners
in the converter and BFO are worthwhile, or are these cold tubes stable enough
as is?
Your thoughts?
thanks-
Hue
