Lou, VE3AWA, posted to the AWA group this YouTube video of the RSBG NFD 1947. Silent, about 9 minutes.

I found it pretty interesting and amusing.
I recognized a fair number of sets there: HRO, AR-88, R-1155, that two - dial British aircraft receiver with
( I think ) LF and HF sections. Lots of homebrew and some brew.
Gentlemen shall wear neckties and use W/T exclusively. I say, chap, have you a light for my cigarette?

The ending scene of the lowering of a spliced - wooden poles antenna reminded me of something.
Years ago in electronics school, there was this instructor, Mr. Zipp. Mr. Zipp was a WW2 veteran.
He said his scariest experience of the war was when in the Philippines, he had to climb an antenna mast the
Japanese had built. The antenna consisted of telephone poles spliced together. Bravo, Mr. Zipp. I would
have asked, "Isn't there some other way we can do this?"

Oh yes, there is a light colored, large radio seen at the outset of this video, being unloaded. It looks like
a transmitter to me. It's about 25 seconds in, has a single meter top center, and two charts side by side
on the front panel. What is this?
