Since 1 Hertz = 1 cycle/sec, using cycle/sec is current as for the SI
system!

Same could be said that volts/ohm is more descriptive than André-Marie
Ampère

Cycle/sec is more descriptive than Hertz.

I wonder why people argue over the 10% of their differences and ignore the
90% they agree on?

My only-halfway-joking observation has always been that we weren't going to
honor a German scientist until all the WWI-WWII unpleasantness had been

I don’t recall Hertz being in common use in the UK until the 1970’s. Wartime
documentation always used c/s.

Ron

In 1930, Hertz was adopted by the Brits (IEC) in lieu of cps, it only took
another 30 years for the French standards organization CGPM to officially
adopt Hertz and another 10 years or so to cross the pond; all according to
our friend, Mr. Google.

When was the Hertz universally adopted as the unit of frequency? I watched
Castles in the Sky this morning and noted that when they were able to get to
200 MHz they actually said 200 mega Hertz. I thought MCS or MC or Megacycles
was still widely used through the 50’s.

Just curious!
