In 1930, Hertz was adopted by the Brits (IEC) in lieu of cps, it only took another 30 years for the French standards organization CGPM to officially adopt Hertz and another 10 years or so to cross the pond; all according to our friend, Mr. Google.

When was the Hertz universally adopted as the unit of frequency? I watched Castles in the Sky this morning and noted that when they were able to get to 200 MHz they actually said 200 mega Hertz. I thought MCS or MC or Megacycles was still widely used through the 50's.
