Yes, NBS-1 has BFO. Chief difference is can see is, has 3rd IF.
Also, the escucheon kind of front panel of the NC-183 is not there; the NBS-1 is flat front panel, and black crinkle finish.

I have an original NBS-3 manual.  It came with the National NC-183NR that I bought over 20 years ago and sold in March of this year.  As I recall, the NBS-3 has no BFO.  Does the NBS-1 have a BFO?
