Question about the usability of the BC-1000 and interoperability with the later era's NBFM equipment such as PRC-25, 77.
I have one, with most accessories, and had been gathering the accessories so as to Ebay it.
But, it looks so darn nice, overhauled 1944 model.
I understand the wideband transmit can be turned down. However I wonder about the receive. There's no easy way to recover more
audio from the wideband FM discriminator. I wonder about the AFC's ability to lock onto NBFM signal as well.
I haven't looked at the schematic for a while, but I think I recall the antenna is top-coupled to the output tank. That would have to be
changed - like a capacitive tap down the tuned circuit, and a resonating coil for the antenna added. But that's the simplest issue to solve.
I don't consider a tweak to the operating frequency range a major problem at all.
thanks-
Hue
