TANSTAAFL. If the transformer output is 180 VAC and the doubler output is
470 VDC, the output current rating would only be about 190 mA at 100%
efficiency. Output watts has to be less than or equal to input watts. I
don't know what the T-90 needs but the transformer isn't hefty enough for
the TCS transmitter.

I have a NIB transformer rated 180 V 500 mA and 6 V 5A. The box says
"Will deliver 470VDC in doubler circuit."
I am wondering, would this make a decent transformer for something like the
Harvey Wells T-90 or Navy TCS
transmitter ? Or will more current be required at HV ? ( Ignoring filament
requirements. ) I understand under
ICAS transformer ratings can be "pushed". But a doubler is not going to
have very good regulation. Is that a
real drawback for AM operation?
