Heh, heh...thank you for that, Francesco.
I have to admit that I am not as careful as I once was. I chalk it up
to this curve I saw in an article by the National Institutes of Health,
indirectly measuring memory and concentration throughout a person's
lifetime, by means of mass vocabulary testing over decades. I note that
with this past birthday I have reached the nadir of the curve at age
78. The good news is that it appears to rise again through the mid-80s.
Unfortunately, this curve is simply raw data - no analysis is offered
other than providing data for further development. For those interested
in details, the article (entitled _/When does cognitive functioning
peak? The asynchronous rise and fall of different cognitive abilities
across the lifespan/_), is at

They're apparently considered the Cadillac of lab AC supplies, though there are certainly worthy competitors like the Elgars that Peter mentioned earlier. And yes...they are *heavy*... but quiet. If you are patient, you can usually find one that needs some work on ebay for a lower price. The latest ACM models are way too pricey for my budget, even used, but the older ones with analog meters usually hang around on the auction site for a while and the seller may be receptive to an offer.

The frequency/voltage plug-in units run the gamut of stable single frequencies, but there are two variable frequency oscillators that offer 45-2000Hz ranges, like the one below that I sometimes use in the 100-C for 800Hz equipment.
