[Milsurplus] Beam filter potting

Has anyone here actually dug into the potting material in the 'beam filters' ? Just curious if it's heat - meltable. In the FL-5, it seems almost a paraffin like material.
I am also curious as to what kind of capacitors they used in these, like what quality ? I hope not the common paper tubulars or the lowgrade postage stamp type.
