This looks interesting, eBay Item # 173233855996, no meter but it does have a built in frequency counter. $19 including shipping, not a kit. Covers 30kc to 20mc in two bands, less then 1mc, greater then 1mc.
There is also a kit, Item # 152244676797 has a go/no go LED and needs either a receiver or a frequency counter to determine crystal frequency. Just about half the cost of the above.Jim
I wonder why people argue over the 10% of their differences and ignore the 90% they agree on?

They don't come up for auction very often, but a really handy one I was
fortunate enough to land a few years ago is the SECO Model 500
"CRYSTalignMETER".?? It was obviously made for the CB crowd back when the
rigs were all "plug-in" crystal-controlled and the operators were still
"sorta" trying to be legal (remember CB callsigns - i.e. KPH4939).??
Anyway, I've found it to be a handy solid-state checker for unknown
crystals.?? It has sockets for HC-17 (which also fits FT-243 holders) and
HC-6 crystals.?? It probably wouldn't be that difficult to add a socket
for the HC-25 "scanner" type crystals.
It does have a meter, so that's a plus over the "idiot light" designs
using an LED to show crystal activity.
FWIW ...
