I believe that my late wife's father was one of the Coast Watchers.?? He
and his family lived during the Forties in the Naselle, Washington
area.?? I know he had a concealed carry license, because I found it years
after he passed in 1998.?? I remember hearing him talk about working in a
volunteer capacity for the government back then, but he never went into
detail as to what he did.?? I don't think he ever worked as a law
enforcement officer, but I wouldn't be surprised if he had.???? I know he
drove a school bus and ran a motor grader to maintain the gravel roads
in the Naselle area.

I have a copy of the Longview, Washington Daily News dated Monday, May
7, 1945.?? The bold red headlines read "GERMANS QUIT", followed by the
subtitle "Full Surrender By Hun High Command Ends European War".?? This
was found in a file folder in his desk after he passed, along with a
Colt M1911 .45 pistol!

Just some Pacific Northwest trivia!
