I have repaired several. The case of all of the capacitors needing
replacement is or has been for me, a rarity. But in that case, I just set
the thing aside in case I ever wanted to build a BA-43. There are enough of
the things around that going to the trouble of replacing all capacitors
isn't warranted. But my experience in general is that the only things that
you can assume before starting will need either fixing or replacing are the
vibrator and the one or two Selenium devices.
Note that some of the capacitors you shouldn't even bother to check as they
don't matter. Both the positive and negative battery busses are bypassed to
chassis because the PE-104, like the radio and dynamotor, were designed to
operate from either negative or positive ground systems. So in most cases,
the capacitors across the A- line to chassis can be ignored as both sides
just go to chassis.

Has anyone ever successfully rebuilt a PE-104? The thing is built in layers
and, as far as I can tell, must de disassembled to the last screw if one is
going to replace all the bad caps.
