Good find.
It took some searching but I finally found the MWO listed in one place, DA PAM 310-4 dtd 11/58.
MWO-SIG 11-5820-291-35/1 dtd 21 OCT 1958. Modification of Receiver-Transmitter RT-77/GRC-9 to provide an improved mercury bias cell.
Other than that one MWO, 11-5820-291... does not appear in any other FM 21-6 or DA PAM 310-4 or 310-7 up through 1973. Mind you, I don't have the complete set, just one here and one there. I would imagine that the MWO appeared in the next two or three 310-4's.
It is interesting to learn that apparently 11-5820-291 would have been the pub number had anything else ever been printed on RT-77 or RT-77A.

Heres another surviving early GRC-9:
Case, TX, and RX all made by Rauland.
Case is SN 829, order 53906, Phila 45
RX is SN 505, order 53906, Phila 45
TX is SN 746, order 9157, Phila 46
The set has an inspection stamp dated Sep 1961 and may have been in inventory until about 1980 -1990.
Screw posts for doublet and group are painted red unlike OD posts on later sets.
Case, TX, and RX all stamped for MWO 11-5820-291-35/1. Anyone know what that was?
