All you'd ever want to know (and more) can be found here:
http://bama.edebris.com/manuals/military/r1490/

The Repair Log is a 114 page document describing in exquisite detail the
restoration methods used by one very dedicated restorer.

I traded for one years ago, it's been on the shelf ever since,
non-working.   The one on the auction site prompted me to think about it
again, but finding the above document threw some shade on my optimism.
However it does provide a source for the broken flexible drive belt,
which was one of the more obvious problems. How many more serious
problems this receiver has remains to be discovered.    The good news
is, it uses discrete components and digital ICs, so it should be
repairable (as the above author certainly proves).   Unlike most TMs,
there is no bill of material or component reference section.

The introduction says it is for ground installations and is "generally
compatible with AN/TRC-75, RT-671/PRC-47, and the AN/TCG-14A(V)
teletype, and that it can be installed in a standard relay rack when the
transit case is removed.   105-125VAC or 24 VDC power, contract date 11
May 1966.    Given that it does come in a transit case it was apparently
intended for a non-fixed station application and it would be interesting
to know more about what that might have been.

Anyone else have one?   Working?
