[Milsurplus] A hell of a several weeks...

Some of us would think that after we have reached a "certain age", things would become a
little easier, and we could take it a bit easy.
No such luck.
2 weeks ago, my wife was hit with a really severe retinal detachment, which required me to
haul her at a high speed 87 miles north to a specialist so she could undertake a 4 hour
operation to repair the damage. I averaged 70 mph on two lane roads. The op took place
from 8:00 PM to midnight. Then we had to see the doc again the following day, and didn't
leave until 6:00 PM.
Now, of course, she can do nothing for 6 to 8 weeks, until the eye heals somewhat.
So, I have to do all her work in addition to mine, and although we do have some help from
our older children, we still have to take care of our handicapped daughter 24/7.
In addition, during all of October, I was hit with about the worst upper respiratory virus I
have ever had. I'm still coughing.
Then our youngest son lost the ONLY keys to his Cadillac, which prevents him from even
opening the door. We have gone nuts trying to find them, or replacements. It is looking as
though he will simply have to have the car hauled to the dump.
Then, to top it ALL off, last night (Thanksgiving) the cursed tree-rats ate the guy wires on my
only GOOD antenna and dropped it onto my roof and into the neighbor's yard, completely
destroying it.
And all I ever wanted to do was "play with" military radios.
Gee...
The only GOOD thing I have almost accomplished is getting David Sampson's manual for
the 128AY, which I have had MUCH too long, off to him, along with some photos of the RBL
receiver I am going to give to him.
At least SOMETHING has gone almost right in the last two months.
Sheesh...
What's the old saying? "Life's a beach and then you die"... or something like that.
I haven't even had a chance to get caught up on my e-mails.
